about

In the spring of 2011, marking the release of the album Love Me For Who I Am, the Lil Band and I performed a string of celebratory concerts featuring new songs and classic fan favorites. A special show happened one inspired morning in Brooklyn, NY at Southpaw, an intimate rock club transformed from a .99 cent store. The Little Band, joined by funky saxophonist Dan Myers, was chuggin' on all cylinders!

Here's what reviewers have had to say about our live shows:

"The Mrs. And I turned to each other after the final chord stopped reverberating and said "that was the best kids' show we've ever seen."
-Jeff Bogle, Out With The Kids

"As good as they sound on CD, they are even better in person. Terrific musicianship, joyous stage presence and interaction."
- John Wood, Kidzmusic

We bring everything we've got to our shows, so we are very excited to share this joyful live performance with you! The tracks are pure Lil Band - sunny, bright, optimistic, tight, poppin', funky, funny, catchy, sweet and warm.

We also include a bonus track, "I'm In Here," a new song honoring Autism Awareness Month. For more than a decade, I've played music and worked with children with autism and other special needs; this song was inspired by the kids I've met and the challenges they face. I'll let the note I received from Keir, a student at Celebrate the Children School, introduce the song:

"The ideas that are trapped in my head are so huge. We understand everything that is going on even if it seems like we are not paying attention. Please teach the world that we think very intelligently but we are bound by our bodies."

Track Name: Jump Up (It's A Good Day)
Jump Up (It’s a Good Day)

Jump up it’s a good day
It’s a good day, it’s a good day
Jump up it’s a good day
Hurray, Hurray!

Everybody clappin’ their hands
Everybody playin’ in the band
Movin’ and a-groovin’, shakin’ and a-lovin’
Happy people all over the land

Jump up it’s a good day
It’s a good day, it’s a good day…

Everybody makin’ a friend
Everybody doin’ their dance
Slippin’ and a-slidin’, floppin and a-flyin’
Funky people all over the land

Jump up it’s a good day
It’s a good day, it’s a good day…

You gotta shine, shine, shine, shine
Come on, come on, be yourself today
Shine, shine, shine, shine
Come on, come on, be yourself today

I’m just a hoppin’, boppin’, rockin’
Like a kangaroo that’s hoppin’, yea
Up and a-down, and a-jumpin’ around
And I’m feelin’ it good today
I’m pop, pop, poppin’
Like some popcorn poppin’
And a grasshopper who’s hoppin’
In the sun today

A little bit higher…

You gotta shine, shine, shine, shine
Come on, come on, be yourself today
Shine, shine, shine, shine
Come on, come on, be yourself today
Shine, shine, shine, shine…
I said, Jump on up!
Track Name: Picky Eater
Picky Eater
i don’t like the peach ‘cause it’s covered in fuzz feels like my mouth is all a buzz buzzin’ with the bugs and the critters i don’t want to chew i won’t touch my mama’s lavish dishes stronganoffs or fine knishes i don’t mean to offend but i, but i think i do I’m just a pick, pick picky little eater I’m just a pick, pick, picky little eater I’m just a pick, pick, picky little eater It’s true Now the veggies, veggies I can’t hack ‘em no matter how ya boil, steam or stack ’em they go down then come right back up that very same tube keep those french fries away from my sour pickle my chips should never touch pumpernickle foods should never rub elbows and flavors should never mingle
CHORUS But I guess I’m not so picky I guess I’m not so shrewd when it comes to the sweeter portion of the menu - anything will do! well, my mouth is like a safe it’s locked up tight don’t give me a struggle don’t make me fight don’t make me call a hunger strike you know I’ve got some fortitude

Oh, mama, mama, mama put that airplane away that form of food transportation’s not gonna work today no, clampin’ down my gums nothin’ nutritious this way comes CHORUS Now mama tries to bribe me with a shiny dime she says, Thomas, i promise this will taste sublime but my price just went up since the last dinnertime now it’s a quarter to chew
I don’t know how grownups do it but they do they eat things that smell like a cage in the zoo they chew on things tougher than my daddy’s old shoes snails, frog legs, bird’s nest soup liverwurst, tongue, yuck! pig’s knuckles, shark’s fin soup, jellyfish, 1,000 year old eggs P.U.!
